Samagi Jana Balawegaya Rep. Harsha de Silva said that regardless of what the President said, even the first property would be taxed according to the IMF conditions.

Speaking in Parliament today (June 18) about the proposed tax on imputed rental income, he said he would be happy if the President decided to abolish the tax.

However, he noted that Minister Bandura Gunawardena had stressed that the conditions of the IMF agreement were fixed.

Congressman De Silva further pointed out that the new government that will take office in the next four months will amend this unfair tax system.

Speaking in Parliament earlier today about the introduction of a tax on imputed rental income, President Ranil Wickremesinghe assured that the first property would be exempt from tax.

He also added that the plan is focused on high net worth individuals rather than average earners.
