According to the latest data from the National Planning Commission, as of the end of July 2024, Qatar’s population increased by 3.09% year-on-year.

According to data recently released by the Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar welcomed more than 2.6 million international tourists in the first half of 2024, an increase of 28% over the same period in 2023.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of international tourists, accounting for about 29% of the total.
Data shows that the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar has significantly increased the number of tourists.
Between January and June 2024, a total of 2,639,000 international tourists arrived in Qatar.
Among them, 51% traveled by air, 40% by land, and 9% by sea.
Saudi Arabia had the largest number of tourists, at 755,000, accounting for 29% of the total number of tourists in the year.
Meanwhile, in April 2024 alone, the number of inbound tourists reached approximately 382,000, a month-on-month increase of 16.3% and a year-on-year increase of 17.9%.
Tourists mainly came from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, accounting for 42% of the total, followed by Asia and Oceania at 22.9%, Europe at 19.2% and other Arab countries at 8%.
Qatar is working towards a target of receiving six million tourists by 2030, in line with its national strategy, which aims to increase tourism’s contribution to GDP from 7% to 12%.
The Gulf country received 702,800 tourists in January alone as Qatar hosted the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Apart from this, Qatar’s status as one of the safest countries in the world also attracts tourists.
