Jodie Beer, a former prison officer at HMP Parc in Wales, has been jailed for six years for trying to smuggle a large quantity of drugs into the prison while she was working there. The drugs were hidden in ferns.
Sky News explained this, saying that in February 2022, when Bill went to the prison parking lot to pick up her car, the police intervened. She was taking a break at the time.
While searching the car, officers found a plastic bag on the front seat containing large juice containers, ferns, mobile phones and SIM cards containing drugs.
Beale, 30, initially said someone unrelated to her had put it in the car. Police found £4,000 in cash at her home.
During questioning, Beale said a prisoner asked her to smuggle drugs and said she would be paid £5,000. She then met the dealer somewhere and took the drugs in a juice fern. She also received cash from him.
