Discipline has declined in Bhutan’s communities and schools, and training is being provided to promote traditional and other cultures.
The 12-day discipline training programme concluded yesterday in Paro with the participation of 970 teachers and staff from 20 dzongkhags and six private schools. The training programme started on August 1 with the main objective of providing discipline to teachers and students.
Second training for the Dzongkhag Education and Discipline Team of the Ministry of Interior. Similar training will be held in Wangdu.
Karma Tsering, deputy education officer at the Dzongkhag, said the main goal of the program is to educate and train schools to prevent the erosion of social discipline norms.
Another goal of the training is to prevent suicide and abuse in schools, he said.

Dechen Wangdue, a teacher at Wangser Academy, said there were no concrete benefits from the programs for the 100,000 children, but communication at home was still a challenge.
Discipline training has been provided to all teachers and other teachers with disabilities, and “we will pass on as much of what we have learned as possible,” he said.
