Statement: Five years ago, Hurricane Dorian changed our lives forever. Ann and I remember those days vividly – the fear, heartbreak and unimaginable loss that so many Bahamian families experienced. Our hearts are broken as are yours, and we still carry the weight of that grief.
But in that tragedy, we also saw something extraordinary. Our people came together to support one another with love and compassion, a powerful reminder of what it means to be Bahamian. We witnessed neighbors helping one another, communities lifting one another up, and a resilience that fills us with great pride.
On this anniversary, Ann and I want to express our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones and to those who are still hurting from that day. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The strength you have shown over the years inspires us every day, and we are grateful to be a part of such an extraordinary community.
Today, we stand with you in remembrance and solidarity. Let us continue to show love, kindness, and unity in honor of those who have died. We are united and resilient, and we will continue to support and encourage each other, as we have done since that tragic day.
