Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao participated in the plenary session of the Ukraine Peace Summit held on June 15-16, 2024 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. 
The summit, which brought together some 60 world leaders and representatives of 90 governments, culminated in a joint statement reaffirming Ukraine’s territorial integrity and calling on all parties to engage in order to achieve peace. 
The Prime Minister in his speech It emphasizes that “international law constitutes the foundation of peace and global order” and believes that “it must be applied uniformly to all countries and all countries must abide by it.”
Xanana Gusmão stressed the importance of treating all conflicts with equal attention, noting that “we have a moral obligation to treat and pay attention to all conflicts in the same way.”
“There are currently around 65 wars going on in the world. Even if they seem far away from our own countries, we must never forget them”, the Head of Government said, reiterating the need to “uphold the commitment to justice in international law and seek to achieve peace”.
