The Georgian president is convinced that Georgia will prevail in 100 days. As Salome Zurabishvili said in his speech to the new civic movement “Choose Europe”, the Georgian government has frozen the process of European integration.
Moreover, the president did not shy away from stating directly that the government had usurped the country’s future.
According to him, today in Georgia, society is on one side and the government is on the other.
Today we will not have the usual choice. This is the choice of our country and the future of our country. In this referendum, on one side is the public and on the other side is the government, which has usurped our future. We cannot agree on this. Here we need to unite and fulfill the charter that all parties signed. There is little time left after the election to implement everything that is written in it. We still have a little time to come out of the freeze, to return to our partners, to convince them that we are back on track and to reopen all the doors that are half closed today.
This is our inevitable task. We have no other way, no choice. We are many, we are very united, and Georgia will win, “Salome Zurabishvili said.
As for the new citizens’ movement, the fifth president of Georgia said that the Georgian people made the choice of Europe long ago. Salome Zourabisvili focused on the necessity for the future and said that society should have a say within 100 days.
“Let’s choose Europe” (name of the new movement) – I think we have chosen Europe and have for a long time. Georgia, at every stage of its history, has chosen the path of development, freedom, democracy, and this is the European path. European values are mainly Georgian values, so it is easier for us to go to Europe. Today, this path has been frozen, this government has frozen it for us, it has turned away from the country’s constitution and refused to serve its own voters. I am part of this campaign that has brought the “dream” to the forefront. All these movements were for a European state. They left this path and froze us. What happened today at the NATO summit, the statements made, the stop of aid, is a very serious threat to the country. There is not much time left, only 100 days. For the public, 100 days is both short and long.
