President Tokayev apprised himself of the preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games, which will be held from September 8 to 13.
The head of state first visited the Astana Arena Stadium, where the opening ceremony of the international sports and cultural event will be held. The stadium, which can accommodate 30,000 spectators, has been renovated throughout the year. Currently, the landscaping work has been completed and the equipment has been fully updated.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also learned about the work of the certification center at the “Kazakhstan” athletics stadium and the uniforms of the national team participating in the Nomadic Games. 1,500 volunteers will take part in this international event.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Elmek Malzhikpaev reported on the national team’s preparations.
According to him, 42 training camps at international and national levels have been held so far. Athletes have also participated in 7 international championships and 25 republican championships.
The 5th World Nomad Games will see the participation of 2,800 participants and members of official delegations from 89 countries. A total of 97 medals will be awarded in 21 categories. The main competitions will be held at the “Astana Arena” stadium, the “Kazanat” racetrack, the “Araw” Ice Palace, the Zakslik Ushkenpilov Fighting Palace, and the “Duman” Hotel Sports Center. A special area will be prepared for Jambi shooting and tenge hanging.
