New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate two universities in Gorakhpur on Saturday. Among them, he will inaugurate Mahayogi Gorakhnath University. The university, run by Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, the educational arm of Gorakhnath temple, will be a landmark for students pursuing medical studies in Purvanchal.
Mahayogi Gorakhnath University has been established in Sombarsa. Apart from MBBS course, students will be able to choose 30 courses in the next five years. Nursing and Paramedical courses have been started. From this semester, BAMS course will offer 100 seats and admissions will start. After the university is inaugurated, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be the chancellor.
Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Vice-Chancellor Major General Atul Bajpai said that the university is headed by Mahant Yogi Adityanath. Dr. Atul Bajpai has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Pradeep Rao as the Provost. Currently, 600 children are being educated at the Nursing College managed by Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, an educational institution on the Gorakshpeeth campus. BAMS will admit 150 students this season. Other vocational courses will be offered from the next semester. 52 acres of land has been provided for the university. The campus will be expanded later.
Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Registrar Dr. Pradeep Rao said that Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad Chairman and former Vice-Chancellor UP Prof. Singh has been appointed as the Chancellor. Major General Dr. Atul Vajpayee has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the private university. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants to make Mahayogi Gorakhnath University an ideal university. From this semester, the university will also start admissions and teaching. The proposed draft of the working committee of the university has also been prepared.
Dr Pradeep Rao, principal of Maharana Pratap PG College Jungle Dhusad, Gorakhpur, has been appointed as the provost. Dr Rao said the working committee has eight members in total. Besides, Dr CM Sinha and Dr SN Singh have been appointed as members of the working committee on the recommendation of the chief minister, Dr Rao said. Joint Secretary Higher Education Brahmadev, representing the state government, Dr DS Ajitha, principal of Guru Shri Gorakshanath Nursing College, representing the university and Prof Shobha Gaur, Bachelor of Education, Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, are also among them.
Mahayogi Gorakhnath University will be the third university in the district. The cabinet meeting in March had approved the management of the land purchased by the university. A high-level committee constituted by the government inspected the university campus under the chairmanship of Deendayal Upadhyay, Vice Chancellor of Gorakhpur University. Upon inspection, the university fully complies with the government’s standards. The 52-acre university with advanced resources will provide market-oriented and vocational courses to students. Researchers will also get research facilities.

Students can pursue Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Basic Nursing, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BDS, MBBS, BPharma (Ayurvedic and Allopathic), DPharma (Ayurvedic and Allopathic), BSc LT, BA/BSc Composite Science, BSc AG, BA Honours, BSc Honours (Mathematics and Biology), BSc Computer, B.Com, B.Ed., B.Sc.-B.Ed., Ba-B.Ed., BPEd., Paramedical Certificate, BCA, BBA, Diploma and Degree Courses, Shastri Honours. For nearly nine decades, Gorakshpeeth has been spreading the light of education in eastern Uttar Pradesh and has created a new and huge beacon in the form of Guru Gorakhnath University. Service through education and self-reliance will be its unique identity under the umbrella of national and Indian culture. Gurugram’s Goranath University, which will soon be inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind and under the guidance of Chief Minister Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath, will become a great symbol of India’s intellectual tradition.
There are about forty educational institutions in the fields of primary to higher and technical education being managed by the Maharana Pratap Board of Education under the Gorakshapeeth. The current Chief Minister and Gorakshapeeth leader Yogi Adityanath envisioned a comprehensive university in the name of Guru Gorakhnath and made it a reality. He has already started the Guru Shri Gorakshanath College of Nursing in the field of medical education. Now, a new university of medical professional education has been established, which offers higher education options in the fields of arts, science, commerce and agriculture.
BAMS will be put into use soon and can accommodate 100 spectators
Guru Gorakhnath University, which is developing into a new model of vocational education, will start the BAMS course from this semester with an intake of 100 students. The course has also been recognized by the National Council of Indian System of Medicine. The course will be managed by the Guru Gorakhnath Institute of Medical Sciences under the university. The admission process for Bachelor and Master of Nursing, Post-Bachelor Basic Nursing, ANM, GNM has been started here. From this semester, the admission process for Diploma in Laboratory Technician, Diploma in Optometry, Diploma in Orthotics and Plaster Technician, Diploma in Emergency and Trauma Care Technician, Diploma in Dialysis Technician and Diploma in Anesthesia and Critical Care Technician will also be started.
As the chancellor of Guru Gorakhnath University, CM Yogi plans to start 30 new innovative professional courses, including MBBS, in the next five years to elevate the university to international standards. This multi-dimensional university of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad is being developed as a centre for medical and para-medical education besides conventional courses. All courses will be in line with the requirements of the present and future times but will have a hint of Indian character.
