Cetrend ended up running 2:46:36, my best time for 10km. I was in better shape than ever in training, and the last 400m of the series was 6:00. Even in a competition, that’s a good time! I had one goal in mind: Lake Balaton VB, a 3km open water swim. In February, Komjádi was closed, so I had to go to Paskál in the morning – I was in good shape, and the fastest way to get around was by bike… so every other morning I went to Zugló as a warm-up.

April 5th was no different. It started to rain a little right after the start, but I thought I would just roll on the sidewalk to the corner and take off my glasses – of course, rolling meant a speed of 25 km/h. The raindrops made my eyes completely opaque, so I saw the barrier rushing towards me only at the last moment. I could still hear the metallic click, and I immediately jumped off the bike – in the flight, I was glad that the longitudinal railing did not hit my thigh. My left shoulder cracked when I landed, but at least my head did not hit the asphalt. Next to me, a little girl was walking to school – she looked at me puzzledly, and I answered: Well, I usually don’t do this, I don’t know what will happen…

I straightened the handlebars and got on the bike. My shoulder hurt, but other places hurt too, in fact, my right thumb hurt the most… In the increasingly heavy rain, I headed to Pascali, where Mr. Hazteti was waiting for us to start training.

I also swam 3600 meters, of course my whole body was in pain, but I consoled myself that if I could move my limbs, there would be no bigger problem. I repeated this in other training sessions, although I could swim slower and slower and less. After a few weeks, only my left shoulder hurt. I couldn’t swim even 2 kilometers during training, and after that I couldn’t even move my left arm. I couldn’t lie on my left side even for a moment. It was obvious that I needed to see a doctor.

Because of my size, I couldn’t get into the joint MR machine, so I had an ultrasound. I was diagnosed with arthritis and a partial ligament tear. The condition of the labrum could not be determined by examination… The rheumatologist first assured me that my injury was not that serious, but I would need a few injections to reduce the inflammation and rest for two months. Two months at the end of April! They shoot for the WC and also for most open water competitions. In 2017, there will be no BÁ, I am sure of that.
