Tulagi police are investigating the recent burning of a three-bedroom permanent house in Beti Kekrao settlement in Central Islands Province.
The cause of the incident is still unclear and police are calling on residents in the surrounding areas to assist them in their investigation.
Inspector George Mouli, the provincial police commander supervising Central Islands Province, said the homeowner told his relatives to look after the house while he was in Honiara.
However, when the relative who was responsible for looking after the house was out for a church function, he discovered that the house was on fire.
“The relative who was in charge of the house was attending a church function when the house caught fire.”
Tulagi police were reported and responded to the incident, but the house had been reduced to ashes.
Tulagi police are still investigating the matter and are appealing to people around the New Mara area to assist with the investigation.
