The National Police informed the Nicaraguan people this evening in a press release of the capture of Maribel Reyes Yanez, alias “Canecha”, a Salvadoran and member of the MS-13 gang, in the municipality of El Viejo, Chinandega department.
“Canecha” has a history of illegal possession and carrying of firearms in the Republic of El Salvador, and there is also an arrest warrant out for deprivation of liberty, terrorist organization and aggravated homicide.
The Nicaraguan National Police, in coordination with the INTERPOL Central American Central Office in San Salvador, handed over Maribel Reyes Yanez, alias Maribel Reyes Yanez, to the National Civil Police authorities of the Republic of El Salvador for the release of the “cañecha” at the Guazole border.
The National Police reiterates its commitment to continue working to keep people, families and communities safe in the country.
