Police arrested three people who assisted foreign criminal authorities in extorting huge sums of money.

Law enforcement officers arrested three people on suspicion of assisting in extortion and damaging other people’s property. The Ministry of Internal Affairs released this information.
According to the agency, the defendants were helping foreign criminal authorities to extort large amounts of money.
“The personnel of the Malneuli District Branch of the Kwemokartli Police Station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through operational and investigative measures and investigations, arrested three persons for facilitating the extortion of huge sums of money, as well as acts of damaging the property of others.
Arrested: NB, born in 1990, TN, born in 1993. and RB, born in 1998
The offence carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
Investigations revealed that the accused were helping foreign criminal authorities to extort huge sums of money.
They were arrested at different times in their names, demanded huge sums of money from citizens, threatened to kill their lives and destroy properties, and on refusal, they tried to intimidate citizens and damage properties.
As a result of the investigative measures taken, law enforcement officers NB, TN and RB were arrested as accused.
A statement released by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs said the incident is being investigated under articles 25 to 181 and 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
