Podolak called those who believe that the invasion of Ukraine was a “Kremlin plan” and called for the relaxation of sanctions “accidental devil’s advocates”, since “the people are not to blame”. According to him, events in Kursk or the Belgorod region provide an opportunity to “conduct a kind of laboratory experiment”. Podolak noted that the lack of an appropriate reaction to the anti-war movement only confirms the existence of a strong conscious relationship between the Russians and the government.

This is the first official comment by representatives of the Ukrainian presidential office on the events in the Kursk region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky himself did not comment on them.
