Poczta Polska receives huge support from the state budget.

– Almost PLN 750 million are funds from the state budget (…) Poczta Polska improves liquidity to avoid bankruptcy – When asked by the PAP whether the funds for the post office announced in June were used to cover losses in 2021-2022, Deputy Minister Bartmiński said that they had been transferred to her account.

The funds are transferred all at once, rather than in batches. Let’s recall that in mid-June, the Ministry of State Assets signed an agreement with Poczta Polska. The cooperation assumes the transfer of about PLN 750 million to operators as compensation for the provision of the so-called universal service in 2021-2022. This is a refund for services provided in 2021 and 2022.

What are the obligations of operators designated to provide universal service? These include: provision of postal services in domestic and foreign transport, including letters weighing up to 2 kg, parcels weighing up to 10 kg within Poland, parcels weighing up to 20 kg abroad, and parcels for the blind.

Poczta Polska is also obliged (among other things): to have a sufficiently dense network of post offices and to provide a service for collecting and delivering letters and parcels at least five days a week. To ensure that people with disabilities can use e-mail, cooperate with state institutions in crisis situations and Organize on-site mail.
