PM Sharif holds meeting to discuss CPEC, other Chinese investment projects

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif holds high-level meeting on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other projects Chinese Investment. The meeting was entirely chaired by Prime Minister Sharif.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif discussed a number of issues of mutual concern, one of which was the major initiative proposed by Prime Minister Sharif to fully operationalize the Gwadar Port.

Prime Minister Sharif directed to import a certain percentage of domestic imports, mainly goods that the government would import from Gwadar Port.

At the same time, he also asked the ministers to coordinate with each other and quickly implement China-Pakistan Economic Corridor second stage.

Speaking about this, Prime Minister Sharif said: “It is unacceptable for ministries and government agencies to interfere in the work of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in any form.”

He further pointed out: “The safety of Chinese residents should be ensured. China is a long-term friend of Pakistan and further promotion of trade and economic relations with China is welcomed.”

Prime Minister Sharif said: “The economic partnership between China and Pakistan is at its highest level ever and the relevant officials and institutions should ensure that both countries can achieve positive results.”

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also stressed the deep ties between China and Pakistan and pledged to continue working to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

On this basis, the meeting also extensively discussed the progress of the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohammad Aurangzeb, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Sardar Owais Khan Laghari, Dr Mossadegh Malik, Abdul Alim Khan, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsan Afzal attended the meeting. Relevant senior officials also attended the meeting. The chief secretaries of the four provinces participated in the meeting through video link.
