At the Second World Conference on Social Alternatives, Minister of Foreign Relations People’s Power Ivan Gill warned that imperialism seeks to use tactics that have worked for them in the past, such as fascism and violence, against the popular classes in order to influence free and independent nations.

“The challenges and threats we face in the future are becoming clear in the same way that the people power we have seen here has faced for centuries. The first is colonialism in its different forms and now neo-colonialism, which is not only the cause of worsening lives and inequality, but today it is seen as a new and more powerful threat,” Gill said.

Likewise, he reviewed the theory developed in the first session, which showed that capitalism was in a period of decline, severe blows and crises.

“These threats inspired the mobilization of the Bolivarian Revolution and the struggle against imperialism and neo-colonialism. “We must consolidate these values and goals that unite us throughout the world and give meaning to all the working class of the world.”

“Commander Chavez has put forward a proposal in Venezuela, the construction of 21st century socialism, as an alternative to these two great threats that we face, which are the root of all the evils that we suffer in industrialized countries,” he concluded.
