In 1975, a group of young people went to Sea-Saint Recording Studio in New Orleans and recorded a song that reflected the economic situation at the time. They named the song “Inflation”.

In this episode of our Planet Money Records series, we take a deep dive into the music industry. We want to release “Inflation” to the world. Now, we have to figure out how to do that. We learn what it takes to make a record label, how record deals work, and why the industry is fraught with tension between artists. And, spoiler alert, we launch “Inflation” in the hopes that it will be a hit.
