PerovskiteKnown as a new generation of photovoltaic materials, its unique crystal structure has great potential in photovoltaic renewable energy.
Helping industry mass produce photovoltaic cells
School of Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and TechnologyDevelopmentA molecular passivation treatment method successfully identified the key material parameters for perovskite performance and lifetime, thereby reducing surface defects and improving the quality of polycrystalline thin films, significantly improving the efficiency and durability of perovskite solar cells and promoting large-scale production; the research results were published in“science”Journal.

Assistant Professor Lin Yanhong of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Display and Optoelectronics Technology at HKUST said that passivation is a chemical treatment process that can reduce defects in materials or reduce the impact of defects. One of the focuses of this research project is how to use the “aminosilane” series of molecules to passivate perovskite solar cells. The aminosilane treatment technology developed by the team not only helps to improve the efficiency and durability of perovskite solar cells, but is also suitable for industrial-scale production.
