A Royal Air Maroc aircraft was involved in a “serious” accident on Saturday evening when it overran the runway while landing at Roberts International Airport in Liberia.

According to local media reports, the plane crashed on a connecting flight from Casablanca to Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, without causing any loss of life or material.

According to the details of the accident, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft deviated from its route during landing, deviated to the left, ran out of the edge of the runway, entered a muddy grass field, and then returned to its original route.

The airline decided to cancel its return flight to Casablanca until the damage was repaired.

While investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the accident, there are indications that it was caused by the severe storm that hit Liberia’s capital.
