Petition to create new airline between Limoges and Algeria

Although several airlines link Algeria with FranceBut some Algerians who have settled in France still find it difficult to return to their country of origin.

Unlike Paris, which remains the easiest French city to fly to Algeria, other French cities are completely devoid of the preferred air links for Algerians in France.

Limoges: 10,000 Algerians unable to reach Algeria

The same is true for Limoges in southwestern France, whose airport has no flights to Algeria. This observation has sparked a petition to open an airline line between Limoges and Oran, according to French newspaper Le Populaire Du Centre.

This petitionThe same source said that the campaign, launched last April, has collected more than 1,000 signatures (1,058), stressing that the city of Limoges has between 9,000 and 10,000 residents of Algerian origin over 19 years old.

Beramdane Amrouche, one of the initiators of the petition, noted that “this is the largest North African community in the city” and stressed that “most Algerian Limouseaus come from the Oran region, especially Mostaganem”.

The accounting official at the University of Nantes hopes to collect more than 5,000 signatures before formally submitting a request to the competent authorities.

Oran from Limoges: “A sunny destination with very little flying time”

As Limoges Airport currently has no flights to Algeria, Algerians who have settled in this French city and wish to return to their country of origin must go to Toulouse or Bordeaux airports, which are mainly served by Air Algerie.

While calling for the establishment of “fair prices for all”, the petition cites “regular demand” which will keep queues “full”.

In addition, the line will serve the inhabitants of Limoges and its surroundings, who will be able to reach “sunny destinations and sub-Saharan tourist resorts” with very little flight time. The initiators of the petition assure that this line “is for the Algerian community, but first of all for all Limoges”.

While the Limoges to Marrakech route already exists, Mr Bellamdam points out that “if Morocco is a mature tourist country, Algeria is developing and opening up more and more to tourists”.
