Tegucigalpa – Three dogs guarding a sales stall at Perisur Market in the Honduran capital were murdered by suspected 18 gang members.
The incident was reported by a tenant whose name is withheld for safety reasons.
The tenant explained that in the early hours of the morning, gang members shot and killed three dogs that were accompanying the security guard to guard the stall.
He said one of the dogs was female and had two puppies that woke up next to the body.
He described that later, the driver of a private car ran over the dog’s body, killing the two puppies.
He condemned the said action as an act of intimidation by members of the gang who were aware of the construction of the mega bus terminal and wanted to control the area from now on.
Neighbors and tenants of the place have asked the mayor to send in permanent surveillance before the problem becomes uncontrollable.
The authorities have not yet commented on this fact, which has caused anxiety among tenants in this popular market in the southern exit of the Honduran capital.
