The Chinese government has removed long-standing barriers to the country’s exports of chicken, eggs and pineapples to China.
Sri Lankan Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the agreement was expressed during discussions with a delegation including Wang Lingrong, deputy director of the General Administration of Customs of China, which recently visited Sri Lanka.
Under this, Sri Lankan pineapple growers and exporters, as well as poultry product manufacturers, are allowed to export as much poultry meat, eggs and pineapples as possible to the Chinese market.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries must do a lot of work to eliminate the obstacles that exist in our country in order to export these agricultural products to the Chinese market. Many methods must be completed to confirm the quality of poultry products on the country’s market, especially the way pineapples are grown in our country.
The minister also said that the country’s efforts to secure market opportunities from China have been successful due to the commitment of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera said the Chinese vice minister assured that the Chinese government will work to expand market opportunities from China to Sri Lanka to export all quality agricultural products to Sri Lanka.
