The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday hosted hundreds of members of the People’s Democratic Party, the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress at Igben, the headquarters of Igben Local Government in Edo State, on the eve of the gubernatorial election.
While receiving the defectors, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Committee, Matthew Urhoghide, assured them of fair treatment, noting that all members of the APC are equal.
He expressed confidence in Senator Monday Okpebholo, noting that he is a good candidate and one who listens to the people.
“I welcome you to the APC. I am happy that you have joined our party, which is also your party. In the APC, we are all equal,” he said.
“Since you have joined the right party, I can assure you that our candidate, Okpebholo, will listen to the voice of the people. You just need to vote for APC on September 21.”
On his part, the APC Campaign Committee Coordinator for Edo Central Senatorial District, Odianosen Okojie, called on party defectors to come out and vote for the APC on September 21.
Earlier, while addressing party supporters at his Ujabhole home in Uwesan, Isan Central Local Government Area, APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, said: “My people asked me not to contest here because I already have their support and votes.”
Speaking at the Esan Central Local Council headquarters in Irrua, former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole claimed that the PDP had no candidates and that the people should not waste their votes on election day.
He said: “As we discuss, PDP as a political party has no candidate. The Federal High Court in Abuja has said so. The court also impeached the process of Asue Ighodalo’s participation in the primary election, so do not waste your votes on PDP.”
Also speaking, the deputy governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa, urged the party supporters to ensure that 100% of the votes in Isan Central Local Government on September 21 go to the APC party.
