Jope will be Vivas’ assistant, and Vivas chose him because he knows Vivas very well and thinks that Vivas has enough knowledge and power to help him after Gustavo Alfaro leaves.
“I always thought about Wanchope because I have known him since 2015 when I came to Costa Rica for a course. We established a connection, established a dialogue and agreed on football. I stressed that he was willing to listen and I am very happy that someone from the local area tells such a story because he is a very important figure in Costa Rican football,” commented the temporary coxswain.
Paulo César was Jorge Luis Pinto’s assistant at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and coach of the Mayor of the Tricolore, but he resigned in 2015 after the incident in Panama.
