Qatar’s Ali Alshad set a personal best in the 100m wheelchair race on Sunday to qualify for the ongoing Paralympic Games finals.
The 20-year-old ran 15.20 seconds at the Stade de France in Paris to keep his medal hopes alive.
Arshad’s result ranked third among the ten athletes competing in the T-34 category.
Chaiwat Rattana of Thailand topped the preliminary round, while Walid Ktila of Tunisia came in second place ahead of Arshad in the preliminary round.
Arshad said he was “enjoying” the challenge and was looking forward to the national team winning medals before the competition.
