Makram Daboub’s side returned to Doha and struggled to maintain their consistency in their attempt to overcome the Lebanese side.

Palestine drew 0-0 with Lebanon, creating a historic moment and advancing to the third round of the World Cup qualifiers for the first time.

The ‘Lions of Canaan’ qualified for their fourth consecutive AFC Asian Cup finals despite a 0-0 draw at Doha’s Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.

In this high-stakes game, both Palestine and Lebanon showed strong defense.

Palestine had its first try on goal in the second half when substitute Zeid Qunbar broke through and fired a shot past a Lebanese defender.

Oday Dabbagh, the country’s top scorer at the AFC Asian Cup, tried to open the scoring but fired the ball high from a corner.

Palestine was desperate to break the deadlock, but with minutes left in the match, midfielder Oday Harroub’s shot went just wide of the post.

Lebanon suffered a heavy defeat in tonight’s game. They still rank third in the group, with Australia at the top, Palestine at the second, and Bangladesh at the bottom.

Palestine will next face Australia on June 11, but both teams have already secured qualification for the next stage of qualifying.
