Otmar OdubelPlataforma Nos Pais leaders expressed concerns about the management of the investigation into former DIP chief, Jaime CroesAlthough Cross is no longer in charge of the DIP, he drew attention to the fact that the investigation was led by Belgians and surnames working in the DIP and not by Arubiano. This situation has led the DRH to act in a similar way to the Landrecherche, expanding police powers in Aruba by investigating citizens and working closely with the prosecutor’s office.

Odubel criticized the DRH for becoming an investigative body, performing functions similar to those of the Landsrecherche and maintaining direct communication with the judiciary. Information provided to the media by Odubel via email indicated that the DRH was working with the prosecutor’s office to prepare a report and conduct further investigations.

Marilyn Dirksen, who led the investigation on behalf of the government and served as an advisor to Oduber, was rewarded for her work. Dirksen currently serves as the head of the DIP in the case. While Oduber was recognized for his work, he pointed out that the investigation was seriously flawed. The DIP failed to adequately respond to the land request and failed to issue a satisfactory report to Parliament.

Oduber stressed that the situation in Aruba, where the government and its departments are directly involved in this scandal, reflects a serious problem, similar to the situation in Venezuela. Despite remaining silent for five years, Oduber assured that he will not remain silent any longer and condemn such actions.
