Latvian tennis player Jeļena Ostapenko surprised many tennis observers by reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the third time in her career – not by reaching the quarterfinals, but by her dominant performance.

Ostapenko has never hidden that Wimbledon is a special place for her. Despite being the champion of the “French Open”, the Latvian tennis player won the junior tournament in London, but now she will reach the quarterfinals of the senior tournament for the third time in her career. “I think the dream of every tennis player is to win at Wimbledon. Especially for me, because I won the junior tournament here. My goal has always been to show my best performance here and win the senior tournament. I feel that the public likes me here,” said Ostapenko after the quarterfinal encounter.

When compiling the statistics, we took into account all eight athletes who reached the quarterfinals, and the statistics were completed even before the quarterfinal matchups, two of which had already been played on Tuesday, July 9.

Among the athletes who have reached the quarterfinals, the Latvian tennis player ranks third in strength, only behind Yeyena Rybakina of Kazakhstan (No. 4 in the WTA rankings, seeded No. 4) and Zasmine Paolini of Italy (No. 7 in the WTA rankings, seeded No. 7). Rybakina will face Yelena Svitolina (No. 21) of Ukraine in the quarterfinals, and the winner of this duel will face the winner of Ostapenko and Krejcikova in the semifinals.
