Angin Malkhasyan, wife of Karapet Poghosyan, told Aravot.am that according to the information she received, her husband was transferred to Nubarashen prison yesterday and has not been allowed to contact relatives for 6 days.

Karapet spoke to his family only once, on speakerphone with investigators and lawyers listening. He urged relatives to take care of themselves. He has not called since.

“This is an inhumane attitude: taking a person away from a demonstration, arresting him and now preventing him from participating. Karapet has health problems; his blood pressure is high and he has to take medicine every morning. In addition, he has three minor children and a mother with health problems to take care of. Aren’t there other restraining measures, such as signing an agreement not to leave the country, or even house arrest? People are committing serious crimes, but they are getting away with it. What did Karapet do?

By the way, all his sickness documents, as well as my unemployment documents were submitted to the court but were not considered at all.

Where are the human rights defenders? Is this not a violation of human rights? Where are the children’s rights defenders, the NGOs that receive funding for this purpose? Or are the children of opposition activists not children?

We all know that Karapet was detained for his oppositional views. They have been following him for six years, hunting him down, trying to drag him into criminal stories about patrols or various people and events, but without success.
