Onion prices in Ukraine have fallen. So, on August 15, farmers were ready to ship at 7-13 UAH/kg, which is an average of 17% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.

Today, almost all Ukrainian farms have started harvesting onions, so the supply is growing rapidly, but according to farmers it is still very low. Unfortunately, the price cuts will not affect sales in any way,” the analyst said.
At the same time, according to farmers, due to the weather conditions this season, there are few high-quality onions suitable for storage. Because of this, the loss rate and the proportion of substandard products that “manufacturers are trying to sell first” have increased significantly.
At the same time, according to OBOZ.UA monitoring, on August 15, the average price of onions in large Ukrainian supermarket chains was 16.26UAH/kg. In particular:
- Novus – UAH 16.59/kg;
- Metro – UAH 16.54/kg;
- ECOmarket – 15.5 UAH/kg;
- Auchan – UAH 16.4/kg.
According to OBOZ.UA, at the same time Ukrainian watermelon season ends – It is predicted that the supply of properties for sale will be significantly lower by the end of August. At the same time, they are now much cheaper than a year ago: compared to 2023, prices have fallen by 35%.
