Yesterday, fighter pilots from nine countries engaged in a one-on-one dogfight. This took place during the Ramstein 1v1 training at Ramstein Air Base in the United States. The Royal Netherlands Air Force took part in the F-35 and F-16.

The exercise enriched the knowledge not only of fighter pilots but also of ground crews. They learned not only about equipment from their own country but also about other types of equipment. Another good side effect was the camaraderie that was created in such meetings.
Ramstein 1v1 is therefore a friendly competition. According to the organization, it is not about who wins. It is all about improving flying skills and tactics during the so-called basic fighter maneuvers. The aim is to eliminate the enemy in close-range dogfights, known as dogfights.
The Ramstein 1v1 exercise is based on exercises of the US Naval Aviation Force, which are held three times a year.

Participants
37 aircraft from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and the United States took part in this competition. A Canadian company that trains the enemy with fighter jets in Germany is a guest and may participate in the next competition. The Ramstein 1v1 organization hopes to hold the training every year.
