OIA announces $20 million in free association agreement funding for Palau

FY24 Direct Financial Aid Supports Health and Education Needs

Washington, D.C. – Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Affairs
and International Affairs Department Carmen G. Cantor announced today that
U.S. government provides health and economic assistance to Palau
These FY2024 funding represent the first year
Providing economic assistance to Palau under recently negotiated free trade agreement
Association (Compact) Section 432 Review, Public Law 118-42,
Signed on May 22, 2023 by the United States and Palau.
The funding announced today for fiscal year 2024 is as follows:
 $10 million – Health Sector – to support the Government of Palau’s
Palau’s Health Sector Submitted in its Annual Executive Report for Fiscal Year 2024

 $10 million – Education – to support government operations

Since the Free Association Amendment was signed into law,
President Biden March 9 this year, the Interior Department has transferred 66
$1 million to the Government of Palau for the Palau Compact Trust Fund, Palau
