Spokesperson of the Police Traffic Department, SP Emmanuel Kayigi, told Kigali Today that the accident was caused by a U-Ton bus first hitting a lorry on the street.
He said, “Due to the fire, 10 motorcycles and four cars were damaged and five people were injured and are currently receiving treatment at CHUK Hospital.”
SP Kayigi said that among the five injured, one was in a serious condition while the others were receiving treatment in the hospital.

SP Kayigi said although the woman driving the truck caught fire and caused injuries, no one was injured and security agencies immediately arrived and provided first aid to the injured.
The spokesman of the Police Traffic Directorate, SP Emmanuel Kayigi reminded and advised drivers to abide by traffic rules to avoid accidents due to mistakes.
He asked them to remember that they are not walking on the road alone and passenger buses can take lives, so drivers should exercise caution and avoid breaking the speed limiter because if the speed limiter is broken, accidents can occur due to speeding.
The accident happened in front of CHIC in Kigali
He said: “Drivers must be aware that when a driver is involved in an accident, he must stop and be arrested because if he does not stop, it will become a danger to other people travelling on the road.”
