The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned parents not to leave their children unattended due to the increasing number of child abductions.

The Commander of the NCPC, Osun Division, Michael Adalalewa, in a statement on Wednesday called on parents to be vigilant and ensure the safety of their children.
Adalalewa said this was particularly important because schools were on holiday and children might be out in public places unsupervised.
The commander expressed concern about reports of child abductions the Corps received in August and said his command is currently investigating three cases.
However, he said some suspects in connection with these cases have been arrested.
“On August 2, the command reported that a boy aged one year and three months was abducted from Osunjela near Ilesa garage.
“After a covert investigation, we found out that a woman named Tawa had kidnapped the baby. She was introduced to the baby’s mother by a family friend, Sodiq.
“The first day the suspect (Tawa) learned to make the bag from the baby’s mother, she held the baby and pretended to play with him.

“She was then sent out on an errand with the baby’s 10-year-old brother;
“On the way, the suspect asked the baby’s sister to deliver potatoes to the baby’s mother and then took the one-year-old baby away,” said the commander of the National Child Prevention Center.
He said that on the same day, another case of a three-year-old child missing was reported from Ifesowapo Street, Owode town, Osogbo.
Adalalew said investigations revealed the child was last seen playing in a shop and his whereabouts were currently unknown.
The commander also said a five-month-old girl whose parents are both disabled was abducted from a farm in Agbeye town in Odo-Otin Local Government Area on Tuesday.
“The baby was abducted when the mother was collecting firewood and placed the baby under the shade of a tree.
“When the mother went back to breastfeed her child, she could no longer find her baby,” he said.
Adalalewa assured the public that the kidnap command was working tirelessly with other sister agencies in the state to apprehend the culprits behind the kidnappings.
He urged artisans and employers to conduct proper analysis of prospective workers.
