The papers also stressed that thousands of acres of land of their own people are being suppressed because the government is supporting Buddhistization by establishing new Sinhalese settlements in the northern and eastern provinces. After the war ended in 2009, various governments promised to permanently resolve the ethnic crisis in the north and east, but none of them has solved the problem.
