Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu has confirmed that FijiFirst has not made a good faith attempt to amend its constitution as requested by the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa.

Working with Fiji Live“We have not made any changes to the party constitution because the question is, ‘who has the power to amend the party constitution when all the executive officers and founding members have resigned’,” Seruiratu said.

“We’re certainly waiting to see how things play out tomorrow.”

When asked what the next steps would be if the party was deregistered, Seruiratu said he could not reveal much at this point.

“We have made plans but we will decide when the situation arises,” Seruiratu said.

Earlier this month, the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa, said the party had been notified in May that it had until 4pm on June 28 to amend its constitution or face deregistration.
