Federal police announced the arrest of nine defendants and the release of one kidnapped person in the capital, Baghdad.
“Within the framework of a preemptive operation, based on accurate information, through a precise ambush and excellent security operations, the forces of the 20th Brigade of the 5th Division of the Federal Police arrested a person accused of kidnapping in the Al-Tha’alaba area and released the kidnapped person,” the police said in a statement. The operation was carried out based on information that “a kidnapping had occurred.”
The statement added that “the forces of the Fifth Division arrested eight people accused of participating in a quarrel in the (Al-Dassim, Sadr City) area.”
The federal police statement noted that “a unit of the 20th Brigade was conducting a search for unauthorized weapons in the (Husseiniyat Al-Ma’amel) area and found (a Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol and two ammunition magazines)”, noting that “the accused have been handed over to the competent authorities and are being dealt with.”
