A team of the 413th Force Protection Group of the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces has killed terrorist mastermind Mustafa Abdullahi and some of his foot soldiers in a gunfight in Kaduna State.
The special forces of Nepal Armed Forces encountered the terrorists while searching the forest after intelligence revealed that they were planning to attack locals.
Nigerian armed forces spokesman Edward Gabkwete said in a statement on Sunday that the militants defeated the terrorists in a gun battle.
He said, “Upon receipt of intelligence report on August 31, 2024 that a known terrorist mastermind, Mustafa Abdullahi, and five members of his gang were spotted near Sabengida Forest along Sabengibirni Road in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State with possible intentions to abduct, injure or kill innocent civilians, a special force of the 413 Force Protection Group of the Nigerian Air Force was dispatched to search the location.
“After coming into contact with the terrorists on motorcycles, the special forces opened fire as soon as they spotted the terrorists. The special forces responded with superior firepower and eliminated all the terrorists.”
Gabkovit said police seized five Danish guns and locally made submachine guns from the terrorists.
“The items seized from the terrorists include five Danny guns, locally made assault rifles and live ammunition. Other items include various ornaments, lighters, SIM cards and mobile phone cases,” he said.
“The military is still working hard to rid Igabi, Birnin Gwari and its environs of criminals and their activities. The military was also commended and urged to intensify its efforts to protect lives and properties.”
