NIAMEY, 10th August, 2024 (WAM) — Floods caused by heavy rains in Niger have killed at least 94 people and displaced more than 137,000 since June.
Humanitarian Action and Disaster Management Minister Aissa Lawan Wandarma said the floods destroyed more than 15,000 houses and about 40 classrooms, and killed 15,472 livestock.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the previously unaffected capital of Niamey was also affected, leaving at least four people dead and many injured.
