The new photovoltaic park at Nicosia General Hospital is now fully operational. Solar panels installed above the hospital parking lot.
The project entered its second and final phase on Jan. 8, which involves closing the remaining parking lots to complete the necessary work.
The car park is now fully open, with photovoltaic panels providing shade for car park users.
The PV park, located in the western parking lot of the hospital, has a capacity of 1.3 MWp and cost approximately €1.8 million plus VAT.
The project is funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Programme It was completed within eight months.
Charalambos Charilaou, spokesman for the National Health Service Okypy, said the PV park aims to partially meet the hospital’s energy needs, enabling it to provide high-quality medical services through modernized and upgraded facilities, with a focus on better care for patients.
Charilaou added that the PV system will help reduce the hospital’s electricity costs.
He then responded to reports that hospital visitors would be charged for parking.
“Parking is currently free for all visitors and will continue to be so“There are no plans to charge for parking at this time,” Charilaou said.
