The Government of Nicaragua announced that it was ensuring epidemiological surveillance through the Ministry of Health in response to the alert regarding the declaration of a public health emergency regarding monkeypox, which will allow the country to implement care and control measures.

“We want to announce that the Ministry of Health has been alerted to a public health emergency of international importance regarding the monkeypox problem and will therefore ensure epidemiological surveillance,” said the Vice President of the Republic, Rosario Murillo, this Thursday.
He explained that epidemiological surveillance will help “to promptly detect suspected cases based on symptoms and travel history so that we can contribute to ensuring care and control measures for our country, our communities and our human family.”
