Three-day-old twins were killed in an explosion in Israel yesterday, along with their mother and grandmother.

When he returned yesterday morning, his wife, children and mother-in-law were killed in an Israeli bombing.

His wife, pharmacist Joumana Arafa, announced the birth of the child on Facebook over the weekend after undergoing a Caesarean section.

Grief

The family had fled their home in northern Gaza on orders from the Israeli army and sought refuge in southern Gaza.

In one video clip, you can see Mohammed is distraught and eventually faints when his neighbours tell him the news of his family’s death.

The Israeli army has not yet commented on the attack but said it usually tries to avoid harming civilians. Civilian deaths are usually caused by Hamas militants launching attacks in densely populated residential areas, or even from homes or schools.

Gaza is one of the most densely populated settlements in the world, but about 40,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in the region.
