The hospitality team that opened Pop’s Corner in Point Pleasant last year has chosen its next opening location on Main Street in Nutley, where The Hudson Rose will serve its first diners later this week.

Located in a former steakhouse at 238 Franklin Avenue, the restaurant is the latest creation of the GAC Hospitality team. Hudson Rose wanted to provide what they felt residents in the area had been missing: a New York-style experience reminiscent of the city’s iconic restaurants.

Chef duties at Hudson Rose will be handled by Andrew Riccatelli, former “Chopped” competition show champion who most recently served as corporate executive chef for Tao Group Hospitality in New York City. Riccatelli’s cuisine aims to present classic American dishes in a unique way, incorporating global influences into the menu.

Dishes considered “must try” include The Hudson Rose’s short rib poutine at brunch and dry-aged duck breast at dinner.

The restaurant’s main dining room features a climate-controlled wine cellar that can hold more than 500 bottles, and the extensive wine list covers all categories that wine lovers could wish for, while also offering some more stylish options for the more adventurous.

Maxey Hayse Design Studio overhauled the space to blend tradition with innovation, featuring classic brick walls juxtaposed with vegan leather banquettes, mid-century seating and a reclaimed wood bar. A sweeping staircase leads to the loft-like Harlow Room event space, which can accommodate up to 200 guests and features a lounge area.
