Democrat Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump 42% to 37% in the Nov. 5 U.S. presidential election, according to an Ipsos poll released Thursday.
The poll found that Harris’ lead has widened since a July 22-23 Reuters/Ipsos survey, when she had 37 percent support and Trump had 34 percent.
The national poll, conducted Aug. 2-7 and surveying 2,045 U.S. adults, found that 4% of respondents supported independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., down from 10% in July.
The Ipsos August poll was conducted independently of Reuters. The online poll has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
Harris announced her candidacy on July 21. Earlier, 81-year-old US President Joe Biden’s poor performance in the debate with Trump on June 27 led him to abandon the campaign and support Harris.
