The national airline will strengthen connections between the Solomon Islands and key international destinations to better meet the needs of passengers.

Solomon Airlines has released a new international flight schedule effective from 16 September 2024, improving connections between the Solomon Islands and key international destinations to better meet the needs of leisure and business travellers.

The airline said the changes, including adjustments to flight dates into Munda International Airport, were made in response to passenger and industry feedback and are aimed at creating better connectivity through Solomon Airlines’ growing Pacific regional network, improving inbound tourism opportunities to the Solomon Islands via Honiara and Munda.

Highlights of the new schedule include:

Munda Services

Solomon Airlines, in consultation with tourism stakeholders, has changed its Munda flight operations from Saturday to Friday to simplify travel for tourists returning to Munda. Under the new schedule, tourists returning to Australia from Munda will be able to return on the same aircraft, boarding at Munda and flying to the Brisbane gateway via Honiara.

Solomon Airlines looks forward to further collaboration with tour operators in the Western Province, working together with the industry to build tourism traffic through Munda, the tourism gateway of the Solomon Islands.
As per the new schedule, international flights to Munda will operate as follows:

• Direct flights from Brisbane to Munda will operate every Friday.
• Flight IE 715 will depart Brisbane at 8:30am and arrive in Munda at 1:30pm
• The return flight on Friday will depart Munda at 2:30pm as flight number IE715, arriving in Honiara at 3:20pm, connecting to flight IE 700, departing Honiara at 4:20pm, arriving in Brisbane at 6:35pm

Auckland Services

Flight dates on the Honiara-Vila-Auckland route will also be adjusted to increase same-day service opportunities to and from domestic New Zealand destinations.

• Honiara-Vila-Auckland flights will operate on Friday
Flight IE 722 will depart Honiara at 07:15am and arrive in Vila at 09:15am
• Flight 710 will depart Vila at 10:15am and arrive in Auckland at 2:30pm, punctual for many domestic flights
• Auckland – Vila – Honiara service will operate on Saturday
• Flight IE 711 will depart Auckland at 8:35am and arrive in Vila at 10:50am
• Flight IE723 will depart Vila at 11:50am and arrive in Honiara at 1:50pm

• Honiara – Santo – Vila – Auckland route will operate on Monday
• IE 722 departs Honiara at 07:15am and arrives in Santo at 08:55am, departs Santo at 09:45am and arrives in Vila at 10:30am
• Flight IE 710 departs Vila at 11:30 and arrives Auckland at 15:45

• Auckland – Vila – Santo – Honiara route will operate on Tuesday
• Flight IE 711 departs Auckland at 08:35am and arrives in Vila at 10:50am
• Flight IE 723 departs Vila at 11:50 a.m. and arrives in Santorini at 12:35 p.m.
• Flight IE 723 departs Santo at 1:25pm and arrives in Honiara at 3:05pm

Santo Service

The network-wide schedule changes also allow Solomon Airlines to streamline the airline’s Vanuatu flight schedule, including convenient flights to Espiritu Santo from three countries starting next month.

Solomon Airlines will offer flights to Santo from Honiara, Brisbane and Auckland as follows:

Thursday – Brisbane – Santo – Vera – Brisbane

Flight IE 726 departs Brisbane at 09:00am and arrives in Santo at 12:50pm
Flight IE726 departs from Santorini at 13:50 and arrives in Vila at 14:35
Flight IE 718 departs Vila at 15:35 and arrives in Brisbane at 17:40
