The Digital Policy Office (DPO) under the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau yesterdayOfficially establishedThe Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and the Efficiency Office (EOE) will be responsible for taking the lead within the government and across different sectors to promote data-, citizen- and outcome-based digital policies, improve government efficiency and services, and enable citizens and the business community to benefit more from digital government and smart city construction.

The Digital Office is led by the Digital Policy Commissioner and consists of three divisions: Digital Government, Data Governance and Digital Infrastructure. First, formulate relevant policies and measures to drive the construction of digital government and promote the application of advanced information technology by various bureaux/departments to innovate in public services. Second, promote data openness, sharing and analytical applications through data governance policies. Third, strengthen digital infrastructure and security, promote industrial development, and deepen cooperation with the Mainland, including measures such as facilitating cross-border data flows and “cross-border” government services.
