Two groups 34 days
Instead of four groups, divisional championships and a Super League, the formula has changed. In the 2024-2025 season, it will be a tournament with two groups of 18 teams. Group A will consist of clubs that played in zones A and B last season. Group B will consist of clubs located in zones C and D. We will therefore have the right to play a 34-day linear league. The first team of group A will play against the first team of group B to determine the champion of the season.
There are 18 clubs in the 2025-2026 French Ligue 1
This final transitional season will result in a new formation of the First Division and the Second Division. After the 2024-2025 season, the top 9 clubs in each group will automatically enter the 2025-2026 First Division. The First Division will have 18 teams. Subsequently, the two groups of teams ranked 10th to 17th will play in the Second Division. Finally, the last place in each group will be relegated to the third division.
The Football Association also announced the establishment of the U17 League. All clubs must form a youth team, and its daily schedule will be modeled after the flag team’s schedule.
The Northern Derby is about to begin
The season will officially kick off on September 14th, with the North Derby between the Panthers and Buffaloes in Group A on Day 1. Day 1 will run from September 21st.
