Towards the end of the month, as galleries and art institutions come to the end of their summer holidays, Paphos will be joining forces to present the work of another local artist. Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort and Psifida Art Gallery will present an exhibition by Christos Foukaras, titled Close To Nature. The exhibition will open on the last day of August and will run at the Paphos resort until 22nd September.
Foukaras is considered one of Cyprus’ most accomplished native artists, with numerous exhibitions under his belt and his work displayed in public and private venues. This summer he returns to his hometown of Paphos to present another body of work.
Organisers said: “Christos Foukaras’ lifelong practice has always been an internal process, maturing and honing his ability to express artistic, philosophical and political themes and imagery through a rich visual language. His work is inspired by everyday life, history, mythology and nature in Cyprus. While he often explores multiple themes in his artistic journey, his work and personal artistic style remain pure and clean, while adding a touch of colour and energy to his figures and shapes. His forms are simple and structurally harmonious.”
At the opening of the exhibition, renowned Cypriot printmaker Hambis Tsangaris will give an opening speech about Foukaras and his work.
