MP and former Vice President Ashwin Adhin said it would not be surprising if the Surinamese National Democratic Party (NDP) ended up with more than 26 seats after the election on May 25, 2025. He personally asked Surinamese voters to give the Purple Party more than 30 seats.
“It would not be surprising if we reach more than 26. We certainly want to aim for the vast majority. I want people to see that whatever small mistakes we make, we are ready to correct them. Because everything that has been said about us has been said, and we will correct it. We do not live in a naivety that cannot be corrected. But I say: give us 30 or more,” Ading said in an interview with Culturu TV.
This politician, Who has ambitions to be president of Suriname?e, pointing out that the mistakes made during the NDP administration were the exception. However, what is happening now is that the exception has become the rule.
“If you do two there, these people will come up with 200. You can correct two, but the 200 cannot be corrected,” the politician said.
Ahim said the NDP is willing to work with anyone as long as everyone adopts a constructive attitude. However, he does not believe that the VHP will return to the center of power.
“I think the VHP should realise that with every wave, awareness is growing stronger. The previous strategy of operating things wrongly by cheating will no longer work. If you want to open up, what should you do? Correct your mistakes. Because if you don’t want to do that and go back to the old strategy, then don’t expect to get 20 again. Expect a strong fall,” said Ading.
